Cost-effective

Grind & Seal is an attractive yet low-cost solution for existing concrete surfaces, outdoor spaces, and garages if you are wanting a polished concrete look without the cost. 

Forme’s Grind & Seal process involves grinding down the concrete to your desired exposure level or removing existing stains and scratches. We then seal the concrete with either an acrylic, polyurethane or epoxy flooring sealer depending on the durability required. The result is a good-as-new concrete floor free of stains and flaws; all at a fraction of the cost of laying new concrete.

Durability

While not as durable as our RuffRock Dura-Floor (RRD) Polished Concrete, the sealant we use is highly resistant to abrasions and corrosion, protecting your concrete from foot traffic and spills.

Longevity

Depending on the sealant selected, your sealed concrete should last from 2-10 years before requiring resealing.

The typical lifespan of sealers are:

  • Acrylic: 2–3 years
  • Polyurethane: 3–5 years
  • Epoxy: 4–10 years

Maintenance

Your floor should be regularly cleaned by vacuuming and cleaning with a low Ph level cleaner with a microfibre mop. The floor should be damp for the shortest possible time. This will leave the floor clean and streak free.

While you can use industrial-grade cleaning solutions with an epoxy floor coating, to improve longevity, we do not recommend the use of these, bleach or citrus-based cleaners.

We recommend Versadet floor cleaner, available from your local Bunnings.

Simple tips to improve the longevity of your concrete floor

  • Fit protective pads to chairs & tables.
  • Castor legs should be fitted into castor cups.
  • Use a dry mop regularly.
  • Avoid direct heat from free-standing heaters.
  • Spills should be cleaned up straight away to avoid penetration or damage.

Resealing

Depending on the quality of the sealer used, your concrete floor will require resealing after 2-10 years. This process typically involves a light grind or reactivating the old sealer using a solvent spray and then reapplying the new sealer.

Applications

Grind and Seal is best suited to outdoor spaces such as patios, alfresco and outdoor dining areas. As well as driveways and garages, though it can be used in internal spaces if you are looking for a more low cost option.
