Burnished RRD

Premium

Industrial look

It can be challenging to differentiate between burnished concrete and other popular finishes due to their striking similarities in appearance.

Unlike concrete grinders, burnishers lack the power to grind down a concrete surface. Instead, their purpose is to heat, melt, and buff a coating that is applied to the surface.

Our Burnished RRD concrete is a raw, industrial concrete finish that is later refined through the polishing process.

This process starts when the concrete is poured. We will continually use a trowel machine on the surface while the concrete is setting to tighten or “burn” the surface of the concrete giving it a smooth, smokey appearance.

Due to the raw nature of burnished concrete, there are quite often imperfections on the surface. If you’re happy with the surface appearance, we can go straight into dry polishing. Throughout this polishing process, we will introduce chemicals to the floor to help harden and seal the surface from the inside out.

If you are not happy with the surface appearance of the floor, we will wet polish first. The wet polishing option will help remove minor imperfections and make the floor finish more uniform in colour, however, it may expose some shallow stones and small sand particles. Once this is done, we move on to dry polishing.

No aggregate exposure

Burnished concrete is a flawless polished surface that elegantly conceals all aggregate, adding a touch of sophistication and refinement to any space.

Durability

Our RRD polished concrete product uses a special hardening/densifying process that increases its durability, making it ideal for residential spaces.

It can withstand the demands of everyday activities, such as foot traffic, moving furniture, and accidental spills and impacts. The hardened surface resists stains, scratches, chips, and wear, ensuring a long-lasting flooring solution.

Longevity

If cared for properly, RRD polished concrete floors should have a lifespan of up to 15+ years before requiring additional upkeep.

Environmentally friendly

Using a densifier/hardener for polished concrete is considered more environmentally friendly compared to epoxy coatings. We use water-based solutions that contain little to no VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Using these solutions is much safer than others. These other solutions may contain hazardous substances which can harm our environment and human health.

Densifiers are effective at creating a barrier against moisture and stains. This makes them a great choice for those who want an eco-friendly option.

Cost-effective in the long term

RRD polished concrete is more expensive than epoxy floor coating at the start. However, it is a better cost-effective solution in the long term. This is because it does not need the same level of maintenance and upkeep that epoxy floor coating does.

With epoxy floor coating, regular re-application and repair may be necessary to keep it looking its best, whereas RRD polished concrete requires minimal maintenance and upkeep.

RRD is a coating-free system providing a finished floor with little ongoing maintenance.

Your floor should be regularly cleaned by vacuuming and cleaning with a low Ph level cleaner with a microfibre mop. The floor should be damp for the shortest possible time. This will leave the floor clean and streak free.

Do not use Bleach or and Citrus Based Cleaners as these may damage the floor.

We recommend Versadet floor cleaner, available from your local Bunnings.
